As I now am working on an art exhibit and plans to grow The Hope for Mexico Foundation, I constantly run in to nay sayers. I don’t begrudge these people and I don’t feel sorry for them either, I’m just thankful that I don’t see the world in that way. I believe one small gesture can change the path of someone’s life. I am confident that my and my family’s small efforts to better Mexico, will make a difference, even if for just one person.
I read this today on a blog I follow and it lifted my spirits and solidified my beliefs.
The Starfish Thrower
For those of you who don’t know it:
A boy is walking along the beach when he stumbles across thousands of starfish that have been washed up. He starts to pick them up and throw them back in. A man approaches him and says, “Son, don’t bother. There are too many. You won’t make a difference.” The boy picks up another, throws it back in, and says, “I made a difference to that one.”
I don’t know how many followers you have or anything but. well I’m up in Washington state and Have been very aware of the tragic decline and rise of violence in Mexico. Know that i’ll be emailing this site to every family member I have. I don’t have money honestly but i’ll do what I can to get you out there. I went to Mexico when I was i don’t know nine, I’m 24 so it was before all the violence was that bad. every person in my family has been there multiple times. I actually have cousins who lived in Guadalajara until they were 13 maybe 14. they loved it and felt as safe as you can in a big city. The fact is so many Americans want to to ignore this, the fear of immigrants on the right combined with a love of the NRA, where all the guns in Mexico come from makes it politically expedient to ignore the problem on the right . Meanwhile the left is so focused on the middle east because of oil reserves and thanks to Republican politicians its where our soldiers are
This fear… this Hatred this prejudice is not permanent. its common in many countries, in America This has happened before. Large waves of immigrations such as Irish Americans were incredibly hated by some, to the point of calling them inhuman. but things changed and they can again
I found this by googling, is there hope for Mexico. Just someone doing this paying attention, proves there is
